This past weekend, PolitiZoid had the pleasure of being featured on one of the world’s most respected news organizations—The Young Turks. This is the “largest online news show in the world” and is hosted by the infamous Cenk Uygur and Ana Kasparian.
The dynamic duo brought one of PolitiZoid’s latest animated episodes up on charges of racism, but their hard-hitting critique seemed to leave their own racial views hanging rather awkwardly in the wind.
The episode in question is “Chicka Chicka Boom Boom,” which features President Obama and the First Lady singing and dancing while images of the failing economy flash behind them.
Keep in mind that these are the Obamas’ actual words and voices. PolitiZoid relies on real audio from public figures, and the audio for this episode comes from a special White House rendition of the classic children’s book, Chicka Chicka Boom Boom.
Clearly uneducated in the great literary classics, the Turkish youngsters assume that the voices are done by impersonators spewing gibberish to make Barack and Michelle sound incompetent and stereotypically black.
President Obama dancing and singing like a rapper “because he’s black,” saying things like “skit scat scoodle doot”? Racist!
Addressing Michelle’s questionable voice, they remarked, “What is she even saying? She’s speaking like a stereotype, right? She sounds like a stereotype!” Yes, Michelle Obama’s own voice sounds like a stereotype. Definitely racist.
Their dialogue is quite compelling. You can watch the whole show here.
