Stimulus II

If you thought the first economic stimulus package was too small, then you should be thrilled to hear about the latest news from Washington. President Obama has unveiled a $50 billion plan for “rebuilding and modernizing America’s roads, rails, and runways for the long term.” Nice alliteration. Apparently the $800 billion of stimulus spending was not enough to do anything about infrastructure problems. Consider this a minor addendum.

Racial Fury

Chris Matthews thinks Obama is really smart. How is that for an obvious statement? However, today the most enlightened thought goes to Matthew’s guest, Cynthia Tucker. This columnist from The Atlanta Journal-Constitution identified the real reason behind voter anger as changing demographics. With the election of Barack Obama white Americans are fearful of losing their white majority. Oh boy…here it comes…RACE CARD! How could we forget that everyone who opposes Obama is 1) white and 2) racist?

Speaking from the Heart

Everyone loves it when President Obama strays from the teleprompter. He is so entertaining when he expresses what he is really thinking. Surrounded by Democrats and adoring union members in Wisconsin, Obama felt comfortable enough to yuck it up a bit with the crowd. Obama touted his fight against the powerful special interest groups of Washington and pointed out that these groups “talk about me like a dog.” It is telling that he felt the need to assure his audience that this remark was not part of his “prepared statement.” [Insert unscripted humor.]

Dark Times

In tough times House Democrats always pull together. While most political pundits are convinced that Democrats will lose their majority in the House, Nancy Pelosi is busy issuing urgent pleas for strong members to help the weak among them by donating campaign funds to struggling candidates. Even President Obama has agreed to add more fundraising trips onto his campaigning schedule as Democrats’ financial advantage over Republicans continues to shrink. Typical Democrats, always trying to spend more money than their opponents. Perhaps they can spend their way out of this crisis, although the economy would say “no.”

Recovery Summery

The National Republican Senatorial Committee has put music to the bleak facts from the economy, further dramatizing the fury behind this election cycle. Let this mark the official end of Recovery Summer.
